A Partnership for Future Merchant Mariners

We are very proud of the long-standing partnership which we have developed with the AMC, a specialised INSTITUTE of UTAS and its leading role as Australia’s National Institute for Maritime Education, Training, and Research.

Our partnership covers two main areas:

* PROVISION OF TWO ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS: THE MERCHANT NAVY WAR MEMORIAL FUND SCHOLARSHIP

* ASSISSTING IN IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR AMC CADETS

During more recent years MNWMF Directors have visited AMC’s facilities at its head office, in Launceston. In March 2021, the Directors held their Board Meeting in the AMC Boardroom, reviewed our partnership activities, toured facilities and met with several maritime associated organisations and visited MERCHANT NAVY MEMORIALS in Launceston and Hobart.

Our partnership with AMC is a key interaction that invests in our merchant navy’s ongoing success. As such, the MNWMF Board places high priority on this important part of our activities…

Board Director, RADM Steve Gilmore AM, CSC RAN (Rtd) has direct responsibility for the growth & further development of our partnership with AMC and liaison with our scholarship recipients. This approach will in turn ensure MNWMF assistance is appropriately focused.
